Tween 80 (Polysorbate 80, CAS 9005‑65‑6) is a widely‑used non‑ionic surfactant manufactured by ethoxylating sorbitan monooleate with 20 moles ethylene oxide. As an oil‑in‑water emulsifier with HLB 15, it features excellent solubilizing, dispersing and stabilizing performance, good water‑solubility and broad‑pH compatibility with various surfactant systems. It appears as yellow to amber viscous liquid, miscible with water, ethanol and isopropanol while insoluble in mineral oil. Multiple grades including industrial grade, cosmetic grade, food grade (E433, FCC) and pharma grade (USP/EP/ChP) are supplied. It is extensively used in cosmetic personal‑care, food processing, pharmaceutical excipients, agrochemical formulations, textile auxiliaries and coatings industry for emulsification, solubilization and dispersion purposes.
