Ethanoldiisopropanolamine (EDIPA 85%, CAS 10353-86-3, with chemical name 1-(2-Hydroxyethyl-(2-Hydroxypropyl)Amino)Propan-2-Ol) is an organic compound with the chemical formula C9H21NO3, a molecular weight of 191.27 g/mol. It is mainly used as a cement grinding aid and reinforcing agent in industry, which can affect the hydration process of cement and improve the mechanical properties of concrete.
Physical and chemical propertie
EDIPA is a colorless liquid or white to yellow crystalline solid with an odor similar to dead fish or ammonia. It is soluble in water and alcohol, slightly soluble in toluene, and insoluble in hydrocarbons.
Application
In cement: In cement-based materials, EDIPA can promote hydration of steel slag cement composite system, improve early and late compressive strength (at low doses), but high doses may inhibit early strength. It can also change the morphology of hydration products, such as promoting the conversion of AFt (ettringite) to AFm (monosulfide hydrated calcium sulfoaluminate), and affecting the crystal growth of calcium hydroxide.
Industrial production and supply: EDIPA is a common component of cement grinding aids.
