Brief Introduction

Polyisobutylene (PIB) is a saturated aliphatic homopolymer manufactured via cationic polymerization of isobutylene monomer. Commercial grades cover low, medium and high molecular weight variants. Low-molecular-weight PIB appears as colourless to pale yellow viscous liquid; high-molecular-weight grades exist as elastic, rubbery semi-solid. It is basically odourless, non-toxic and chemically inert.

Thanks to its fully saturated hydrocarbon molecular backbone, PIB features outstanding resistance against oxidation, ozone, ultraviolet radiation, dilute acid and dilute alkali. It possesses extremely low gas permeability, good hydrophobicity, excellent electrical insulation and low-temperature flexibility. It does not contain unsaturated double bonds, so aging resistance is far superior to many general diene-based rubbers.

Glass Transition Temperature: approx. -65 ~ -75 ℃

Stability: Stable under ambient conditions; avoid long-term contact with strong oxidants and high temperature above 250 ℃

Packing, Storage & Transportation

Packing: 200L coated steel drum; bulk IBC tank available. Keep packages sealed against impurities.

Transportation: Non-hazardous goods. Secure drums to avoid collision and leakage. Do not transport together with oxidants, corrosives and food materials. Prevent overheating under high temperature.
