Use & Application
Industrial grade PTSA monohydrate acts as highly efficient acid catalyst for esterification, transesterification, acetalization and condensation reactions. It is widely applied in plasticizers, coatings, resins, adhesive and synthetic perfume manufacturing. It replaces mineral acids in many synthesis routes, reduces side reactions and simplifies post-treatment process.
Synthesis grade p-toluenesulfonic acid monohydrate is used in fine chemical and pharmaceutical intermediate synthesis. It serves as catalyst and acidifying agent for API production, helps promote cyclization and esterification reactions with mild reaction conditions and easy separation.
Other application fields include electroplating additive, curing accelerator for phenolic and amino resins, and catalyst in fuel additives. It can also be used as analytical reagent for chemical laboratory testing.
