Methacrylamide, Methylacrylamide, CAS 79-39-0, also known as 2-methylacrylamide, α- Acrylamide( α- Methylpropenamide,alpha-Methyl acrylic amide)。 Methylacrylamide is a white crystal at room temperature, while industrial products are slightly yellow. Easily soluble in water, soluble in alcohol and dichloromethane, slightly soluble in ether and chloroform, insoluble in petroleum ether and carbon tetrachloride. Methylacrylamide can undergo polymerization reactions at high temperatures, releasing a large amount of heat and easily causing container breakage and explosion accidents. Flammable in the presence of open flames and high heat methylacrylamide, it releases toxic nitrogen oxide gases such as carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, and nitrogen oxide during combustion and decomposition. This product is a toxic chemical that has irritating effects on the eyes, skin, and mucous membranes. It is sealed and stored away from light. Methylacrylamide is an intermediate in the production of methyl methacrylate. The molecular formula is C4H7NO.
