Use & Application
Food / Flavor grade methyl salicylate is widely used in food flavor and daily fragrance industry. It is used to formulate mint, fruit and spice flavors for candy, beverage, chewing gum and toothpaste. It can also be added into air fresheners, soap and detergent to create wintergreen scent, with strict impurity control to meet food contact and fragrance safety standards.
USP / BP grade methyl salicylate is used for pharmaceutical and topical cosmetic formulations. It is the key active ingredient in liniments, ointments and pain-relieving patches, delivering anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects for muscle and joint pain. It is also used as a fragrance and penetration enhancer in cosmetic products, complying with pharmacopoeia impurity limits for human skin contact.
