Use & Application
Cosmetic grade diazolidinyl urea is widely used as preservative in leave-on and rinse-off personal care products, including creams, lotions, shampoos, body wash, facial cleansers, wet wipes and hair styling products. It suppresses the growth of bacteria, yeast and mold in aqueous cosmetic systems, prevents product spoilage during storage and use. It shows outstanding performance against pseudomonas, which is a common contaminant in cosmetic raw materials.
Industrial grade diazolidinyl urea can be used as biocide for water-based emulsions, water-soluble additives and some water-based polymer formulations to control microbial contamination and odor generation.
It is usually used alone or combined with other preservatives such as parabens and iodopropynyl butylcarbamate to build a composite preservative system and broaden antimicrobial spectrum.
