General overview of Chlorhexidine Gluconate 20% aqueous solution CAS 18472-51-0

Chlorhexidine Gluconate CAS 18472-51-0 is a biguanide chlorobenzene with a wide range of antimicrobial activity (Aly and Maibach, 1983; Goldblum et al. 1983; Sebben, 1983). At pH 5.0-8.0, it is most effective against Gram-positive (10mcg/ml) and Gram-negative (50mcg/ml) bacteria. It is colorless or light yellow almost transparent and slightly viscous liquid; odorless or almost odorless. This product is miscible with water and dissolves in ethanol or acetone. Relative density: 1.060～1.070g/ml (25℃).

Application

Chlorhexidine Gluconate is a cationic biguanide‑type broad‑spectrum bactericidal antiseptic agent. It shows strong killing effect for gram‑positive bacteria, gram‑negative bacteria, partial fungi and enveloped viruses, and retains long‑lasting residual antibacterial activity after application.
