Use & Application
Food grade BHT is a permitted food antioxidant, added into edible oils, fried food, nuts, biscuits, instant noodles and food packaging materials. It delays oxidative deterioration of fats and oils, extends shelf life and prevents off-flavor development caused by rancidity.Cosmetic grade BHT acts as oil-phase antioxidant in creams, lotions, lipsticks, body oils and hair care products. It protects plant oils and oil-based active ingredients from oxidation, avoids product yellowing and rancid odor during storage. The recommended dosage is usually below 0.1%.
Industrial grade BHT serves as antioxidant for plastics, polyethylene, polypropylene, synthetic rubber, lubricants and hydraulic oil. It inhibits thermal and oxidative degradation of polymer materials, prevents aging, cracking and viscosity change of rubber and oil products. It is also widely used in feed industry to protect feed fats.
